Follow-up care at home

After discharge, you have the option of receiving postpartum care at home from a midwife. This care can also be provided by a midwife from the team at the Confraternität & Goldenes Kreuz Private Hospital.

During a home visit, the mother and child receive expert follow-up care, with special attention paid to the child’s development as well as the mother’s postpartum recovery and vital signs. Breastfeeding advice, baby care, and your questions are, of course, also addressed during the home visit.

Social insurance covers one home visit per day until the 5th postpartum day, followed by up to 8 additional visits in the first 8 weeks (or up to 12 weeks after a premature birth or cesarean section) as needed. Midwives covered by health insurance bill the health insurance directly; attending  midwives will send you an invoice, which you pay and then submit to your health insurance. The health insurance will then cover 80% of the health insurance rate (not the fee).
