Setting out on new routes – by determining personalized therapies

Every person is unique. And every person reacts in a different way to certain treatment methods. Molecular-genetic diagnostic investigation means that today, in certain circumstances, it is possible to provide patients suffering from cancer with a customized treatment recommendation. A method can be chosen from a selection of modern cancer treatments such as tumor surgery, chemo-, radiation or immuno-therapy that is “tailor-made” to the needs of the individual patient and offers him or her the best therapeutic outcome. At the same time, therapies can be avoided that will very probably not result in an improvement to a person’s state of health. The side-effects of any treatment are also reduced in ideal cases by the use of personalized therapy. Patients can also seek out a second opinion as part of their personalized therapy.

The route to successful treatment

By means of molecular genetic diagnostic investigation, a tumor profile is compiled that shows, with a high degree of precision, genetic changes in over 300 genes that, according to the current state of scientific knowledge, play a role in tumors developing

To this end, the oncologist providing treatment sends a sample of tissue to a certified laboratory where this is then examined by a team of specialists.

The results are then aligned with all available treatment options and ongoing clinical studies.

Detailed findings are then available after two to three weeks showing the various treatment options and providing the doctor with the basis for determining personalized patient treatment.

Breast Health Center

We are the only private hospital in Austria with an in-house certified Breast Health Center. Our radiology department is a certified facility for early recognition of breast cancer, using state-of-the-art mammography and tomosynthesis. In the event of an abnormal result, further investigation follows and where necessary, the appropriate treatment.
