Setting out on new routes – by determining personalized therapies

Every person is unique. And every person reacts in a different way to certain treat­ment methods. Molecular-genetic dia­gnostic investi­gation means that today, in certain circum­stances, it is possible to provide patients suffering from cancer with a custo­mized treat­ment recommen­dation. A method can be chosen from a selec­tion of modern cancer treat­ments such as tumor surgery, chemo-, radiation or immuno-therapy that is “tailor-made” to the needs of the indi­vidual patient and offers him or her the best thera­peutic outcome. At the same time, thera­pies can be avoided that will very probably not result in an improve­ment to a person’s state of health. The side-effects of any treat­ment are also reduced in ideal cases by the use of persona­lized therapy. Patients can also seek out a second opinion as part of their persona­lized therapy.

The route to successful treatment

By means of molecular genetic diagnostic investi­gation, a tumor profile is compiled that shows, with a high degree of precision, genetic changes in over 300 genes that, according to the current state of scientific know­ledge, play a role in tumors deve­loping

To this end, the oncologist providing treat­ment sends a sample of tissue to a certified labora­tory where this is then exa­mined by a team of specia­lists.

The results are then aligned with all available treat­ment options and ongoing clinical studies.

Detailed findings are then available after two to three weeks showing the various treat­ment options and provi­ding the doctor with the basis for deter­mining personalized patient treatment.

Breast Health

We are the only private hospital in Austria with an in-house certified Breast Health Center. Our radiology department is a certified facility for early recognition of breast cancer, using state-of-the-art mammography and tomosynthesis. In the event of an abnormal result, further investigation follows and where necessary, the appropriate treatment.
