Which range of services is offered at the Breast Health Center?

We provide diagnostics and treatment for all benign and malignant diseases of the breast and are committed to improving early recognition of breast cancer.

The core services of our certified Breast Health Center include the follow­ing specia­list fields:

Attending doctors at the Confraternität & Goldenes Kreuz Private Hospital have the option of working in our Breast Health Center.

As a patient, you can come to us under the care of your own trusted physi­cian. He/she will be an integral member of your treat­ment team.

To make an appointment for mammography/ultrasound (if referred by your doctor, or under the Austrian breast cancer screening program, “early detection”) please contact our Institute for X-ray and Diagnostic Imaging directly; agree­ments are in place with all insurers.

Certification

Since 2016 patients with suspected breast cancer may only be treated in certified centers, which are required to meet a series of deman­ding criteria.

For the women concerned, this certifica­tion is a valuable aid in choosing a hospital as it pro­vides an objective assurance of expertise and quality.

Confraternität & Goldenes Kreuz Private Hospital offers an in-house certi­fied breast health centre, which was audited and certified for the first time in 2011 by Doc-Cert - an indepen­dent com­mission of experts from Switzer­land.  The prere­quisites for certifi­cation include a series of deman­ding quality criteria that have to be checked and approved every year in a quality report.

In addition, each center is obliged to undergo a re­certifi­cation audit every three years. The Breast Health Center’s most recent full evalua­tion was carried out on October 4 and 5, 2023, once again by experts from Doc-Cert.
The auditors findings con­firmed that the Center provides out­standing treat­ment for its patients. This recent re-certification is evidence of the excellent standards and con­tinuously im­proving quality at Confraternität & Goldenes Kreuz Private Hospital.

Tumor Board and collaborating partners

 

The Tumor Board, led by Silvia Artner, MD, is a weekly meeting where repre­senta­tives of all relevant medical disci­plines discuss the best treat­ment for each indivi­dual.

At Goldenes Kreuz this cross-disciplinary discussion takes place for all patients, both at the pre­operative stage, to make a joint recommen­dation on the best possible initial treat­ment, and after a surgical proce­dure, to coordinate sub­sequent treat­ment. This ensures that a treat­ment plan is devised with consul­tation and commit­ment from all the rele­vant disci­plines:
